The fictional film “The Courage To Love” starring singer/actress Vanessa Williams is an interesting movie. I really enjoyed it. The move is set in the 1800s and is about Henriette Delille, played by Williams, who is a young black woman in Louisiana, born of a black-American mother and white-American father. Her dad sires two daughters with her mom and provides for them. but refuses to marry her, opting to wed a woman of his own race.

Because she is black, Henriette is expected to become the mistress of a white man as her mother was regarding her dad. However, she opts to become a nun. She falls in love with a white doctor, Gerard Gautier and he with her, but she is concerned that racial issues will create a problem in the south. Problems do arise but the film has an uplifting ending.
