The movie "Speed Racer" is about a man of the same name, who fights against corruption in a CGI motor car racing industry, dominated by a handful of corporations that behave like the mafia (also known as Hollywood).
"Speed Racer" tries to be too many things, to too many people and as a result, was all over the place and barely made sense.
The underlying subtext, which is reflective of how Hollywood does business, equated the racing world with organized crime. It was out of place for a film marketed to kids. Speaking of that, some of the language and the violence was not appropriate for children as well. The ending of the film wasn't the best either.
However, this confused, barely lucid piece of cinema was made by the Wachowski Brothers - the duo that ripped off the Matrix. The film was made while one of the brothers unadvisedly underwent a gender reassignment procedure, going from Larry to Lana. Oh dear. |
