"Secrets And Lies" is an award winning British film about a young black optometrist, Hortense, living in London, England, who was adopted by a black woman. However, her birth mother, Cynthia, is white. When Hortense goes searching for her they are shocked to discover they are of different races. Cynthia also has a daughter by another man, who is no longer in their lives.

 

Hortense and Cynthia ask each other many questions in trying to build a relationship. However, other complications arise in their lives and that of Cynthia's family that pose a problem. "Secret And Lies" is a very engaging film that was well done.
