Title: Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes Year Of Release: 2011 Review Date: August 31, 2011 Rating: PG-13 Running time: 93 minutes Box Office Gross: $306,901,839 Site Rating: 2 out of 10 stars "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes" is the action sequel to 2001's "Planet Of The Apes." The film stars, James Franco, as a scientist seeking to cure Alzheimer's by experimenting on apes. How original (sarcasm). One of the apes in the study, Caesar, ingests the drug via his mother and becomes more intelligent. Due to his increased intelligence, Caesar becomes aware of the plight of apes kept in captivity and leads a rebellion. The plot to this film took too many twists and turns and became downright creepy at times. It also has underlying themes regarding prevalent ideas about HIV and AIDS, strewn throughout the film, though the subject matter has to do with Alzheimer's. |
